Dr. Rankin has over 20 years of experience treating adult and child clients and supervising trainees at community mental health agencies, inpatient settings, university clinics, and in private practice. Her primary clinical approach is cognitive-behavioral with consideration of family systems. She is intensively trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Prolonged Exposure therapy for PTSD (DBT-PE), and DBT-Child (DBT-C) and is a DBT-Linehan Board of Certification (DBT-LBC) Certified ClinicianTM. Dr. Rankin has advanced training in CBT for Insomnia (CBT-I) through the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Rankin also has training in S.P.A.C.E. for parents of anxious children and adults with failure to launch. Her past experience with psychological testing also informs her current psychotherapy work with children, adolescents and adults. Dr. Rankin earned her M.A. and Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from George Mason University and her B.A. in Psychology at Rice University. She completed a post-doctoral internship at the Virginia Treatment Center for Children, Medical College of Virginia, treating children and adolescents in day, residential, and acute settings.
Dr. Rankin is licensed to practice in DC and VA and is also authorized to provide telepsychology services in PSYPACT-participating jurisdictions.
