At The Wake Kendall Group, our licensed therapists thoughtfully place participants in the group that is most appropriate for them. Each of our groups is well-defined in terms of its evidence-based or process-oriented approach, and led with specialized training by a professional therapist. Our clinicians collaborate with clients on personal goals while also encouraging working within a group. The Wake Kendall Group offers the following therapy groups for adults in Washington, D.C.:

  • The EASE Group is centered on achieving emotional control and social competence in adults. The sessions equip individuals with tools to control emotions, relate better in relationships, and manage conflict.
  • Our DBT skills groups are part of our comprehensive DBT program and serve clients who can benefit from DBT’s systematic skills training in mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness.
  • The DBT Friends & Family group is a supportive educational group designed for loved ones of individuals who experience intense emotions.  Participants build a foundation in DBT to support and strengthen their relationships.  
  • Wise Mind Studio is an advanced skills training group for adults who have already completed DBT or are familiar and practiced in the core DBT skills.  Clients meet on a biweekly basis for a combination of in-depth skills training and peer skills coaching to support their long-term work towards their life-worth-living goals.

In addition to these groups, we frequently introduce specialty programs in response to community demand. This flexibility allows us to respond to needs as they arise and serve a wide range of individuals.
