Dr. Frances Brookner has been in clinical practice for over 20 years working with clients across a range of ages and diagnoses who are overwhelmed by the diverse challenges life presents, whether personally or professionally. She incorporates both insight-oriented and cognitive behavioral approaches to best meet the needs of her clients. Her therapeutic style is direct, coupled with compassion and a sense of humor. Dr. Brookner’s work with couples is informed by her extensive training in Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT) and object relations couples therapy. She also incorporates skills from Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Prolonged Exposure therapy (PE) for post-traumatic stress disorders in her work. Prior to becoming a psychologist, Dr. Brookner was a senior executive in the financial services sector. Dr. Brookner’s background combines business acumen with expansive psychotherapy experience that affords her clients a unique therapeutic perspective. Dr. Brookner received a Psy.D. from George Washington University, a M.B.A. from New York University Graduate School of Business Administration, a M.A. in Developmental Psychology from Columbia University, and a B.A. from Mount Holyoke College.
Dr. Brookner is licensed to practice in DC, MD, and VA and is also authorized to provide telepsychology services in PSYPACT-participating jurisdictions.
